After major refurbishments and changes, the hotel which used to exist about 30 years ago and was known as the Federal hotel has been replaced by the new Planters Hotel. This is as a celebration to mark the taking over by the people of the Cameron Highlands.

At the Planters hotel, visitors officially check in at 2 PM and are allowed to stay until noon the following day which is the official check out time. If you want to cancel a booking, you are supposed to give a 72 hour notice or it will be considered invalid. An average room goes for RM120. The rooms are grouped into four major categories:
Standard – contains one bed and suitable for a couple. Rates are RM120 for weekdays, RM160 for holiday, RM200 for holiday and peak season.
Queen – has a window, is more luxurious and has only one bed also fit for a couple. Rates are RM150 for weekdays, RM200 for weekends as well as RM 250 for peak or holiday season.
Twin Room – This is best for two people as it contains two beds. Rates are RM150, RM200 to RM250 on school holiday.
Premier room – Has much better room service and has only on bed. Best for a couple on a higher budget than the queen room. RM180 for weekdays, RM250 for weekend and RM300 for public holiday.
The Triple room – This boasts two beds; one king sized bed and a small one for a kid. From RM230, RM280 to RM330 per night.
The Family room – This is the ultimate solution for a family as it has one big bed king sized bed and two other average sized beds for other family members who can be adult kids. Rates from RM250 (weekdays), RM300 (weekend), RM350 for school holiday.
